Ever have one of those mornings where you wake up thinking, This is going to be a great day… and then life laughs in your face? Yeah, that was my Tuesday.
I’m sharing this not just because it’s mildly embarrassing and slightly hilarious, but because there’s a solid business lesson buried between my bedhead and my almost-breakdown.
The Morning That Started Sideways
I woke up feeling… off. Not “I’m coming down with something” off, but “my body wants to be horizontal for three more hours” off.
You know the feeling … slight sinus pressure, no energy, but not sick enough to justify staying in bed. Plus, my back hurt, so lying there wasn’t going to help.
To make things worse, I had a 10 AM dentist appointment.
Translation: no coffee.
Translation of that translation: no supplements, no Bio Age strip, no normal morning routine.
If you’re a creature of habit like me, you know that skipping the first domino means the rest of the day’s dominos start wobbling.
The Domino Effect
I tried to be productive … checked in with my auto transport brokerage clients, got their stuff squared away. But when it came to my online business? My brain was like, “Nope. Not today.”
By my 1 PM meeting, I still felt foggy. Not creative. Zero motivation. And I’ll admit it… I wanted to cry. Not because anything tragic happened. Just because I was that out of alignment.
Then came the final appointment of the day: my monthly massage. Only, it wasn’t “monthly” anymore. Between vacations and schedule conflicts, it had been a good 3 weeks too long. My body noticed.
The Snore Heard ‘Round the Massage Room
Here’s where it gets good. My masseuse has this off-the-charts energy … she’s one of those people who walks in and your shoulders instantly drop an inch.
She starts working on my neck and shoulders, and before I know it…
I’m asleep. Deep, drooling, snoring asleep.
The bad news? I missed enjoying my massage.
The good news? I woke up feeling like someone had rebooted my operating system. I’m pretty sure she got my neck back in alignment without the chiropractor’s help.
And with that, my fog lifted. The urge to cry? Gone. My creativity? Back online.
The Business Lesson You Didn’t See Coming
If a customer had reached out to me that morning for help with their business, I wouldn’t have been able to show up 100%. Not even close.
The reality is this: you can’t serve at your best if you’re running on empty … physically, mentally, or emotionally.
If you want to build, grow, and scale your business without burning out, here are my non-negotiables:
-
Stick to a Sleep Routine – Same bedtime every night. No phone, no TV, and no late-night snacks.
-
Eat Real Food – More protein, fruits, and veggies. Less processed junk that inflames your body and brain.
-
Personalized Supplements – Your body isn’t your spouse’s or your neighbor’s. Get what you need.
-
Move Every Day – Even if it’s just 10 minutes of walking around the house.
-
Schedule Self-Care – Massage, chiropractor, pedicure… anything that makes your body exhale.
Why This Matters for Entrepreneurs
Whether you’re in affiliate marketing, network marketing, blogging, or email marketing, you are the engine that runs your business.
When that engine sputters, your results do too.
When that engine runs smooth, you can close deals, create content, and serve clients at your absolute best.
So here’s my unapologetically blunt advice:
If you think “self-care” is optional, your business will pay the price.
💡 Business Tip: Your productivity isn’t just about time management … it’s about energy management. Protect your mental and physical energy like you protect your profit margins.
