What happens when a blogger, a YouTube video creator, or a Pinterest-loving entrepreneur walks away from her laptop for 72 hours?
She rediscovers what actually matters.
Hi, I’m Carla Gardiner, your everyday entrepreneur and resource guide, helping others build a business that fits real life. No hype. No hustle. Just truth.
And today, I want to have a real talk with you.
Last weekend, I unplugged … completely.
I didn't write one blog post.
No, creating any YouTube videos.
Not one Pinterest pin.
No social.
No email.
Just me, a few million kindred spirits, a Bible, and 72 hours of soul-deep restoration.
Why Stepping Away Might Be the Best Blogging Strategy
We’re constantly fed the idea that success as a blogger or content creator comes from doing more:
-
More pins on your Pinterest business account
-
Write more blog posts for your business
-
Create more YouTube videos to grow your channel
-
But what if more isn’t the answer?
What if the key to blogging for business success is knowing when to stop…— to refuel, reset, and realign with your purpose?
Because here’s what I learned…
The Honest Truth I Didn't Expect
I showed up to that weekend convention on fumes.
Emotionally wrung out. Creatively empty. Physically exhausted.
The moment the noise stopped … I slept. Deeply. Peacefully. Like a rock.
And guess what? After the rest came the revelation:
“You cannot pour from an empty cup … not into your blog, your business, your content, or your community.”
And that’s exactly what blogging for business really is … community. Connection. Not just keywords and plugins and perfectly edited YouTube videos.
The Power of Real Conversation (Not Just Comments)
For three days, I didn’t talk about affiliate links, opt-ins, or the best time to pin on Pinterest.
I talked with women about life. About family. About faith. We laughed, cried, and shared real stories … the kind I normally turn into metaphors for blog headlines. But this time? I lived them.
And something shifted.
“I remembered why I started creating content in the first place … to help real people with real lives.”
And that includes you.
Re-Energized and Recommitted to Serve You
On the second night, I realized something: even though I sleep well most nights, this weekend I slept differently. Deeper. Calmer. Lighter. I released the pressure of performance.
And when I woke up?
No more dread of the blog.
I didn’t sigh at my inbox.
My creativity appeared again.
I felt excited to open my Pinterest business account and pin with purpose.
I couldn’t wait to batch-record a few short YouTube videos.
And best of all, I was thrilled to sit down and write this blog post, just for you.
The Spiritual Fuel Behind Your Business Fire
If you’re anything like me … an everyday entrepreneur trying to juggle blog strategy, Pinterest marketing, and family dinners … you know that burnout is real. And sneaky.
It creeps in behind deadlines and disguises itself as “consistency.”
But here’s the thing: consistency without clarity is just noise.
“Sometimes, the most productive thing a content creator can do is unplug.”
So, if your blog feels like a chore… if your YouTube videos have lost their spark… if pinning feels more like pushing a boulder uphill…
Maybe it’s time to take a breath.
Not to quit.
But to fill up again.
What's Next: Purpose, Not Pressure
This isn’t a “burnout confession.”
It’s a call to action.
Because after 72 hours away, I’m more committed than ever to showing up and serving you … the everyday entrepreneur who wants to:
-
Build a blog that actually gets seen and read.
-
Use Pinterest like a business tool (not a wedding board).
-
Turn simple YouTube videos into evergreen traffic engines.
-
And finally, create a business that fits your real life, not a fake highlight reel.
So, if you’re still reading … thank you. And here’s your next step.
Ready to Turn Pins into Paychecks?
If you want to learn how I use Pinterest to drive consistent, evergreen traffic to my blog and YouTube videos, even when I’m offline… grab your seat in the Pins to Paychecks Masterclass.
This isn’t fluff. This is the exact system I use to get found … while living life unplugged, on purpose.
One Last Thought
You matter more than your content calendar.
Your purpose is bigger than your pin count.
And your voice? It’s exactly what someone out there is searching for.
So be you. Be real. Be willing to step away when needed … and come back strong.
You’ve got this.
I’m right here, cheering you on.
