How to Keep Your Business Healthy and On Track
Years ago my health was failing miserably. Visiting my doctor for an annual check up gave me peace of mind and helped him head off any unwanted diseases or ailments. However, what I was doing wasn’t working. It took a system of ancient tools including herbs, vitamins and natural remedies such as massage and meditation to get my health, both physical and mental back on track.
Today, more than 16 years later my mental and physical health is better than when I was in my twenties. It didn’t happen overnight, not with one technique or product. No, it took a plan, a road map so to speak to give my body and mind what it needed for peak health, performance and endurance to run a healthy business.
Last week my husband, Rich and I traveled to San Antonio, Texas for a company conference. Our LifeVantage business is steadily growing because we chose to plug into the proven system the company has provided us much like the plan my medical doctor prescribed for my health.
There are many ways you can keep your business healthy and on track, just like your personal health. The secret is to utilize every single tool available to you. It takes practice, time and perseverance to master any new skill, job or business.
Think about the first time you sat behind the wheel of your dad’s car. Were you scared, excited or nervous? I know I was, yet it didn’t stop me from climbing in every day after school to practice one more time.
I even remember Dad riding on the side board of the pickup holding onto the mirror while instructing me how to slide my foot off the clutch while giving her gas and shifting into first gear…needless to say it didn’t go so smoothly…I threw him off the truck and he had to run to jump back on as the truck rolled down the hill in the field next to our home. Yet, I practiced everyday until I got good at driving that old stick shift truck. Today, I climb behind the wheel, buckle in and turn the key without giving it a second thought and I bet you do the same, right?
So, why is it we think starting a home business should be any different? What I’ve learned over the past sixteen years in business is this. We must follow the plan laid out before us without changing anything. Why?
Let me ask you this. If your momma gave you a recipe to bake a cake that you couldn’t wait to eat once she had baked it would you change the recipe? Do you think it would turn out the same as hers? Of course not, you’d probably be very disappointed in the cake, right?
So if you are like I am you’ll be excited to learn some simple steps keep your business healthy and on track. Ready? Here goes…
Step # 1 – Your quest must begin with an absolute burning desire for change. Change in your current job, financial situation or life course. When I say burning desire I mean HOT, BURNING so as to be unacceptable for you to fail. This desire will push you when you are unable to push yourself, when the fear overcomes you and you want to quit. Yep, I’ve been there many a time and yet my desire has pulled me back time and again. I just won’t settle for the status quo.
Step # 2 – Listen to and follow the direction of your sponsor. If they have done likewise they are succeeding at building their business, they are earning a check and can share with you that the track you are on is the right one. Doesn’t it make sense to make the best use of your limited time? If you are like me you certainly don’t need another job, you want freedom of time, extra money and not more headaches, right?
In our company they have what’s called a Master Track. This includes attending weekly phone calls where we hear and learn from other distributors who have achieved real results. Heavens sakes they are sharing their nuggets of wisdom unlike other businesses where those success tips are closely held secrets.
There are monthly trainings where the elite distributors get down and dirty, sharing the intricate design of the compensation plan and how to share with our friends, family and prospects.
Quarterly events like the Elite Academies that we just attended are the highlight of the training system. This training takes it up a notch; this really inoculates our businesses giving us deeper belief in our product, company and leadership.
We network with our fellow associates learning about people, their dreams, desires and pain points. People often think our product is our product however that is far from the truth. People are our product and it is our job to be selfless and serve them, their needs and our dreams come true as a result.
Every single distributor who has built a healthy business follows this proven Master Track and you can see with your own two eyes that their business is healthy and on track…their check proves it.
Step # 3 – Teach your business associates to do exactly what you have done. There is plenty of personal growth that comes with building a healthy business whether it is online, offline or in our homes. Learning how to help other people with different personalities, hopes, dreams, backgrounds and abilities is a challenge, is fun and rewarding.
I realized something this past weekend when we attended Elite Academy in San Antonio and that is a large majority of successful businesses are being built by working women. Grandmas, moms and daughters are taking network marketing by storm. The flexibility helps them fit working their business in the nooks and crannies of their already busy day. They already know and are good at multi-tasking and their work ethic exudes energy like a hyped up race horse in the gate.
Coming home there was plenty of time to re-read my notes, meditate on how I could best serve my team and inspire them to attend the next event, our company’s convention in April. All I know is that we know where we are going, we know how we are getting there and are willing and able to lead and inspire others to join us and build a business that is healthy and on track for our family’s future and beyond.
If these business tips have helped you or inspired you in any way, please…share them with others who may need a gentle nudge toward their dreams and goals they will thank you.
